About Our Research

Our laboratory studies both how data are generated and how they can be effectively utilized, focusing not only on primary data but also on secondary data that provide new insights. We develop technologies that allow humans to access and understand information without barriers, combining techniques from artificial intelligence, data engineering, and media informatics.

Our research themes include:

  • Graph Database Indexing and Knowledge Access: Developing high-performance indexing methods to enable efficient and scalable retrieval from large graph-structured data.
  • Food Informatics and Knowledge Graph Construction: Building integrated food knowledge bases that connect recipes, nutrients, and sensory information to promote healthier and more sustainable eating habits.
  • Language Model and Information Reliability Studies: Exploring trustworthy AI and multi-task learning to improve language model interpretability and reduce misinformation.
  • Cultural and Social Data Engineering: Creating open science platforms for cultural heritage and investigating trust formation between information senders and receivers.

These projects are mainly supported by JSPS Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI) and JST Research Programs. Through these interdisciplinary efforts, we aim to contribute to society by designing data systems that connect technology, culture, and human understanding.

We welcome motivated students and collaborators who are interested in exploring how data, culture, and technology can work together for a better future.
